Outa said if Kisumu County commander of Police Titus Yoma does not deploy security officers to man Ms Odinga’s home within a week, leaders from the region will match to his office in protest.

This followed Wednesday's raid on Ms Odinga’s Nyahera home, in which electronics were stolen after thugs raided the home.

Ms Odinga had her home security withdrawn about four years ago on precincts that she did not have authorization for such security.

“This has been long overdue and I wish to advise the county commander to offer the deputy governor the protection she is entitled to in this county," Outa said in Kisumu.

Outa said they were concentrating on voter mobilization and would not want to show conflicting actions, but warned that if nothing is done in a week, they would stage demonstrations.

Ms Odinga said she has been without security for nearly four years after they were withdrawn by an Administrative Police boss on the grounds that there was no letter allowing her police protection.

“I want to appeal to the county commander not to wait untill I am dead to ship from other regions hundreds of officers to protect dignitaries at my funeral, as a government official, am entitled to security,” said Ruth.
