Teso South MP Mary Emase made the intervention after the organization that had taken initiative to fund their education cut financial aid.

"Teso South Constituency together with my foundation has allocated Sh1.8 million to support Elewana beneficiaries whose Education has been threatened by the withdrawal of sponsorship," Ms Emase said.

Speaking in Amukura during a meeting with parents and affected students, she pledged to pay three-quarters of each of the student's school fees until completion of their secondary Education.

Elewana is an American organization supporting needy students from the region but closed its doors recently over diplomatic issues between the US and Kenya.

She also said her office will spend Sh13.6 million to pay school fees of students at Alupe and KCA Universities.

"Priority to me will always be education because education is a key factor in achieving societal growth and I will pull all strings together to ensure all deserving cases get a fair share of quality education," she added.
