Ng'ang'a has said that the green houses would boost the women economically in the semi -arid area that receives inadequate rainfall.

"We were given these green houses by the Ministry of Agriculture and we expect to grow kale, sunflower and tomatoes, and the irrigation will also be provided by the ministry,” said Ng'ang'a.

The MP further revealed that she is in talks with the management of Bidco Oil Refineries based in her constituency so that the company can provide the market for the sunflowers the women grow.

"I have met with Bidco CEO who has assured me that in the next harvest the company will buy sunflowers from our women and also provide them with seedlings thereafter,” she added.

Ng'ang'a noted that her constituency has both a rural and urban part, and that the people in the rural were poored due to the lack of opportunities and because of the harsh weather conditions.

The areas of Komo and Munyu are on the lee-ward side of Mt.Kilimambogo and are usually hit by drought.
