Speaking at the Full Gospel Church in Limuru where he hosted local leaders on Monday, Kiragu said that the dens of illicit brew have become rampant and youth are being persuaded into joining the group of brewers which he says it ruins the future generation.

Kiragu expressed his concern with the number of drug dens in Kiambu and illicit brew that has unaccredited sources spreading around the county saying that the perpetrators are hidden in our homes and thus the community should fish them out.

The MP hosted Nyumba Kumi and community policing leaders and elders in the society and appealed them to work with the locals to tame the drug users and peddlers in our community.

“You leaders should go to the grassroots and work with the people to tame the drugs and substance abuse which are eating out community,” said Kiragu.

He insisted that the constituency cannot move towards development if the drug abuse is still the cancer that eats up the community slowly by slowly.

The legislator has called on leaders to come up with ways to save the youths in the community or the future leaders are at stake and death will still occur due to the homemade liquor.

“I urge my counterparts to come up with ways to tame drugs and substance abuse which ruins our generation with homemade alcohol,” said the MP

He has however extended his gratitude to the county government of Kiambu Governor William Kabogo for holding workshops in the grassroots to sensitize the youth citing the ongoing sensitization Workshop for the youth in Gatundu South.

He said that it is an act of leadership for the governor to lead by example and has appealed to youths to embrace the seminar and be a change in the community.
