Balambala MP hopeful Abdi Omar Shurie has urged Muslims and the Somali community to endorse President Uhuru Kenyatta’s re-election bid in August.
Shurie says that Uhuru deserves re-election basing on the trans-formative development agenda his government has been able to realize since taking power in 2013.
Speaking to supporters on Wednesday, the Jubilee MP aspirant said that Uhuru’s administration has restored security in Garissa and neighboring North Eastern counties.
“President Kenyatta’s administration has pushed for key security policies that have guaranteed security in Garissa and larger North Eastern region,” he said as quoted by the People Daily.
The MP hopeful added that Jubilee government has been fighting for the interests of Somali community in various sectors like trade.
He said that Uhuru’s development track record will guarantee him re-election. “Our votes as Somalis and Muslims are with Jubilee and no one can dispute that,” he said.
Shurie urged locals not to be swayed by National Super Alliance (NASA) politics. He said that NASA has no agenda for the Muslim community.
“Voting or supporting NASA will not add value to us as Muslims and Somalis because the alliance does not care about our interests,” he added.
