Ndeiya residents have a reason to smile after the construction of the Ndeiya-Mutarakwa road kicked off on Friday.

The project which is spearheaded by the area Member of Parliament John Kiragu is said to be the first lot of roads to be done in the first 2, 000km of road construction by the government according to the MP.

Kiragu who was speaking in Ndeiya Ward revealed that plans are underway to extend the construction of the Ruaka-Banana road in the same programme.

He said that he is working towards development of his constituency before the end of the financial year where he believes it will result to positive impact in the region since infrastructure is his major goal.

The MP said infrastructure in a country is the most important aspect that supports network and connection thus improving the economy of a country.

“In my view if this is achieved the resultant connectivity and improvement on the said roads, will finally open up the whole constituency for accelerated development. That way we will have more investors coming, more employment opportunities and a boosted economy,” said Kiragu.

The legislator added that there was good progress for designs and plans on the Wangigi - Ngecha -Chunga Mali road which is funded by a donor and the government of Kenya.

“We are also lobbying for Rironi - Kiroe - Makutano road for bituminous standards, re-tarmacking of the Tigoni-Kabuku-Ngecha road and finally the Kentmere - Redhill section,” added the MP.
