Nyeri town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu is a man under siege over his firm stand on the 2022 presidential politics.
The vocal MP has made it clear that he is not in the Jubilee camp calling for Mt Kenya’s endorsement of Deputy President William Ruto to take over after Kenyatta.
Ngunjiri has been dismissing the choruses and a section of Jubilee loyalists who are diehard fans of Ruto have warned the first time MP that he risks becoming a lone ranger in the 2022 politics.
Nyeri Senator Ephraim Maina, Nyeri MP Rahab Mukami and a section of MCAs from the county told off Ngunjiri on Sunday over his anti-Ruto stand.
The leaders said Nyeri and Mt Kenya Region are behind William Ruto come 2022 and the MP will ‘walk alone’.
The leaders were speaking during a fundraiser at Muruguru Catholic Church in Nyeri.
Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung’wah also joined the leaders and hit out at those spreading anti-Ruto gospel saying that the DP has being instrumental in lobbying support for President Uhuru Kenyatta and the president’s supporters will therefore ‘return hand’.
Ngunjiri had made an insinuation on his social media about a trip by Ichungwa and senator Kipchumba Murkomen to his constituency.
“Let me take this opportunity to welcome Hon Kipchumba Murkomen, Hon Kimani Ichungwa & other members of ‘TangaTanga Squad’ to Nyeri Town Constituency this morning. I wish I had known earlier that you were coming I would have happily joined you in Muruguru,” Ngunjiri said.
Murkomen hit back saying Ngunjiri should have involved himself with church work.
“I was a Sunday school teacher and if mheshimiwa had gone to Sunday school like I did, he would have known that it is in the Scripture that you should participate in church building,” Murkomen said.
