Kisii county Women representative Mary Otara has issued cheques worth Sh3.1M to 15 groups in Bonchari constituency.

She called on the groups to spend the money wisely to improve their living standards.

Speaking on Monday at Suneka in Bonchari when she was issuing out the cheques through National Affirmative Action fund, Otara said if the groups misuse the money without showing tangible things on the ground they will be arrested to account for the money.

“This money we give you, you don’t need to refund it back but to use wisely to improve your living standards,” said Otara.

“Government officers are going to come to account for the money on how you have spent it but if you waste or misuse the money without doing anything on the ground I am sorry and you will be arrested,” she added.

She also launched 250 plastic chairs which Nyatike widows group bought through the money it received from her.

Among the groups that received the cheques in Bonchari constituency are: Moroko women group, Brime self-group, Ekegutu women group, women of hope, Bomorenda women group, Itibo Adventist, Nguvu , Majaliwa , Bomoribo, Rembesha jamii, Keonge, Bomwanda widows, mission and, Ganao enterprise group.

She also called on other groups to write proposals asking for funds.
