Speaking to residents in Kisauni Town on Wednesday,  Mbogo said that he is not going to tolerate grabbers.

The Wiper MP said that cases of public land grabbing meant for development projects is on the rise.

He said that over 6,000 pieces of public land have been grabbed by politicians and wealthy developers in the constituency.

The MP said that his office has written to the National Lands Commission (NLC) chairman Mohamed Swazuri to intervene and help repossess the grabbed land.

“Public land grabbing is a serious threat to development and as such we must work together to ensure grabbed land is repossessed and utilised,” he said.

The MP issued a one-month ultimatum to politicians and private developers who have allegedly grabbed land to return it.

He threatened to name and shame individual politicians who have grabbed public land.

The Wiper MP at the same time urged the Ministry of Lands to issue land titles to genuine landowners.

He said that majority of genuine landowners don’t have land title deeds, a situation that exposes their property to grabbing.

The MP also said that issuance of title deeds will curb land conflicts that he said are on the rise in the constituency.
