An MP has accused the Jubilee administration of ignoring the constitutional requirement of equity among all Kenyans.
Speaking on Citizen's Cheche show on Wednesday, Homa Bay Town MP Peter Kaluma claimed that key government positions were shared among two communities yet the country has 42 tribes.
"The constitution wants us to have a face of Kenya but today, if you go to the important sectors of the economy, those controlling them are from two tribes. We are left to wonder if Kenya is a one-tribe, two-tribe country or a 42-tribe nation," he said.
"How do Kenyans feel when they walk into the attorney general's office and find that the top 13 positions are held by individuals from one tribe. How do Kenyans feel when they go to be served in the KRA offices and all the people serving them are from one tribe," he added.
The MP also alleged that the government has deserted the Nyanza region in terms of state, adding that there was only one minister appointed from the six counties within the region.
"How do you explain that out of the six counties in Nyanza, only one individual is a minister? This just points at the lack of equity in the in the Jubilee government," he said.
