Samuel Atandi (Alego Usonga, ODM), speaking to Radio Citizen on Tuesday said there is a lot interference on the present Parliament by the executive.

He said Parliament is full of MPs who can not dispense their duties independently accusing the Executive of reducing the Legislature into a rubber-stamp arm of government.

"The only solution is to dissolve Parliament and call for fresh elections," he said.

"We can not continue having a Parliament that only takes instructions from the executive. MPs no longer think on their own. We are doing a disservice to Kenyans. Kenya needs MPs who are firm and who can not be swayed."

The Executive has consistently been accused of interfering Parliamentary business especially on State appointees' scrutiny and approval.

The most recent case is where three Jubilee MPs were removed from their respective Parliamentary Committee chairperson seat on the Executive's order.

The three were James Gakuya (Embakasi North), Alfred Keter (Nandi Hills), Silas Tiren (Moiben) and Kang'ong'o Bowen (Marakwet East). Also removed was Catherine Wambilianga (Bungoma Women Rep) who had been elected Keter's deputy.

Before MPs voted the five out, Jubilee-elected lawmakers had met President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto at State House.
