Kisumu Central MP Ken Obura’s political career could be at freezing point should ODM National Election’s Board nullify contested results that were announced on Wednesday.

In a tense tallying central Lions High School, returning officer Laban Bosire announced results at gun point with Obura declared winner having scored 24, 601 votes while his closest challenger Fred Ouda scoring 13, 613 votes. Onyango Oloo was third with 5, 090.

Initially, provisional results showed Mr. Ouda, outgoing Gem Central MCA leading with a substantive margin only for Obura to allegedly kidnap and force Mr. Bosire to declare him winner.

And the turnout of events culminated into protests in which demonstrators demanded that Ouda is awarded the certificate.

“No Ouda, no ODM. Our rights must be respected. Odinga must go and Uhuru must reign,” chants of angry protestors could be heard in Kisumu town.

Ouda on his party warned that ODM leader Raila Odinga’s reputation could be at stake should he fail to intervene.

“There is a cartel within ODM which is destroying the party and will cost Raila Odinga a lot,” he said.
