North Mugirango Member of Parliament Joash Nyamoko was on Tuesday unanimously elected by committee members as the chairman of the Parliament Broadcasting committee.
While addressing journalists shortly after his election said that his team will work towards highlighting members of the public on the roles and functions played by legislators.
“We are trying to demystify this Parliament so that people get to know exactly what are the roles and functions of Members of Parliament in terms of representation, legislation and oversight,” said Nyamoko.
Nyamoko was Jubilee's preferred candidate was elected after members last week struck out Embakasi North MP James Mwangi in a vote of no-confidence.Mr Mwangi was earlier elected as Chair against the wishes of the Jubilee Party.
The National Assembly Liaison Committee chaired by Deputy Speaker Moses Cheboi ,on Monday resolved to kick out Jubilee rebels MPs Alfred Keter, James Gakuya and Silas Tiran as Chairmen of the Labour, Agriculture and House Broadcasting Committee.
Other Jubilee legislators who suffered similar consequences include Kangongo Bowen and Catherine Wambilianga who were removed as deputies in the Environment and the Labour Committee respectively.
