Thika MP Alice Ng’ang’a has accused the county government of failing to collect garbage and clean Thika town and adjacent estates.
The MP complained that the town is in pathetic state adding that garbage has become a big menace to the people.
The legislator said that businessmen and locals have been complaining over failure by the county government to clean up the town.
“Kiambu county government must quickly clean up Thika town and estates. People are at risk of contracting diseases,” she said.
The MP wondered why the county government could fail to clean up the town yet it collects heft levies from traders and locals.
She said it is the responsibility of the county government to spearhead cleaning of all towns and estates. Ng’ang’a gave the county seven days for to quickly clean up Thika so as not to inconvenience traders and locals.
On the same note, the MP wants the county to improve drainage systems in Thika town.
She observed that the drainage system is in pathetic state and needs urgent repairs. The MP added that the matter is worse when it rains since water overflows to people’s business premises.
