A Nyamira MP has lauded Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (Cord) for halting all demonstrations against IEBC.
The opposition issued a statement on Sunday through Siaya Senator James Orengo who said Cord was keen to find the framework of engaging government over the stalemate in the join Senate-National Assembly committee that had been endorsed by President Kenyatta.
Ben Momanyi of Borabu on Monday hailed the opposition for accepting to give dialogue chance for the sake of promoting peace and stability.
“I have been pushing for removal of the IEBC commissioners but didn’t really buy the idea of demonstrating. We have seen people lose lives over a small matter that we could have handled long time ago,” Momanyi said.
“But I am really pleased by Cord coalition since they have called off all sorts of protests to allow dialogue prevail. Kenya is bigger than anyone and we should stay focused always to ensure peace prevails. Cord has done the best thing,” said the Wiper MP who is said to be having cordial relationship with Jubilee.
He warned those sitting in the select committee again engaging in hard line stands and called for flexibility throughout the talks.
“Those who will be sitting in the dialogue committee must be very open and thoughtful. Flexibility must be key and they have to tolerate each other. Kenya must move on,” he said.
