Mvita MP Abdulswamad Shariff Nassir has launched a security inspection exercise in all secondary schools in the constituency.Speaking after holding a meeting with school principals in the constituency on Monday, Nassir said political leaders and other education stakeholders in the county need to take prompt and serious safety measures to ensure students in both boarding and day schools remain safe.Nassir said the inspection was launched at Coast Girls Secondary School on Sunday and will be carried out in all secondary schools within Mvita Constituency.He said safety measures in the schools will be reviewed and new ones put in place through funding by the Mvita Constituency Development Fund (CDF).“We have met secondary school heads in Mvita and we are planning a similar meeting with primary school head teachers,” said Nassir.The MP said nothing was more important than ensuring students learn in a conducive and safe environment.“We have seen the fire incidences that have occurred in other schools across the country. We should not wait for the same to happen to us for us to act,” he added.Nassir also promised to fence all schools in the constituency in a bid to assure teachers and students of their safety.The MP also inspected the construction of a new ablution block at the Coast Girls Secondary Schools with has been funded by the Mvita CDF.
