Thika Town MP Patrick Wainaina on Monday launched the installation of street lighting in a 1.2 kilometer from Kiganjo corner 2 to corner 4.
Speaking during the launch at Kiganjo, the MP said the aim of the project is to reduce insecurity in the area and in realization of a 24 hour economy in Thika town constituency.
“Crime will be a past tense in Thika town constituency once the installation of the street lights will be completed because criminals who have been taking advantage to terrorize residents and traders will be scared to do their illegal dealings in the broad light,” said the lawmaker.
He assured that the street lights will be replicated in more areas in the constituency with a target of reclaiming Thika town.
“Street lights will be installed across the constituency. In the next few years Thika will have a face lift of a city to compete with cities like Nairobi, Kisumu and Mombasa.
"More investors should feel free to invest in the region because I am committed to provide a friendly environment to set up big businesses in the area to create job opportunities for our youths who are now jobless in villages,” he added.
