Matungulu Mp Stephen Mule has today launched the construction of Kisukioni tarmac road in a bid to stimulate economic growth in the region.
Speaking today at Kisukioni market, Mule said that the region’s development has been partially hindered by poor road infrastructure.
According Mule, the road tarmacking project will further open up more opportunities for the region’s growth.
“Most of the rural roads in our county are in a dilapidated state and are not tarmacked, proving to be an impediment to business and economic growth,’’ said Mule.
It is with this in mind that we have embarked on this project to ease transport,” he added.
He said each of the 45 wards in Machakos county have been allocated Sh4 million for the development of road networks.
“Costly methods of road construction have also hindered infrastructural development,’’ Mule stated.
Already, the Machakos county government is engaging in compensation talks with land owners to pave way for the construction and expansion of the 30 kilometre project.
