Mumias East MP Benjamin Washiali has now accused Opposition coalition NASA leaders of being responsible for the collapse of the Mumias Sugar Company.
The lawmaker's assertions comes just a day after NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga accused the Jubilee administration of doing little to revive the sugar miller.
In his address to supporters in a series of public rallies in Kakamega County over the weekend, Raila accused Washiali of failing to use his proximity to the Jubilee government to salvage the company.
However, in a quick rejoinder, the Jubilee lawmaker claimed that it was Raila who failed to revive the miller despite the region supporting his bid religiously in the recent past.
"We know this company did not collapse during the term of Jubilee. We are glad the president is helping the troubled farmers," he stated.
NASA claims Jubilee's poor policies, including importation of cheap sugar, are to blame for the company's cash woes.
