An MP has released a list of politicians he believes have high chances of winning the presidency in 2022.
Daniel Maanzo (Makueni, Wiper) in an interview with a local radio station said on Thursday that Kenya's fifth president will come from three active politicians who are currently shaping the political space of the country.
He said the country's fifth commander in chief will either be opposition leader Raila Odinga, Deputy President William Ruto or Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka.
He said the three currently wield immense support in the country and thus have equal chances of clinching the presidency and replace President Uhuru Kenyatta at State House.
"As far as I know Raila Odinga, William Ruto and Kalonzo Musyoka will contest for the presidency in 2022," the soft spoken MP who doubles as the NASA coalition's lawyer said.
"There are high chances that our net presidenct will come from these three."
Opposition chief Raila Odinga is said to be angling to contest for the presidency for the fourth time in 2022 although he has not openly declared the interest while Ruto on numerous occasions indicated he will be on the ballot.
Kalonzo is also eyeing the presidency going by the pact he signed with Raila in 2013 and 2017. He expects Raila to support his presidential bid then.
The advantage with the three leaders is that they come from regions with a high number of registered voters and their popularity cuts across the country.
