Daadab MP’s seat loser Abdikheir Dubow has accused the incumbent MP Mohammed Dahir of using relatives to win the seat.
According to The Star, the politician told Milimani law courts that his rival’s win does not reflect the will of the people of the constituency. He claimed that the elections were marred by all sorts of irregularities and illegalities, which were facilitated by the relatives of the Dahir.
The complainant argued that most of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) officials are related to the Dahir. He also accused them of swithing off lights when it came to verification of the outcome of the August results in which he lost.
“Most of the IEBC officials are related to Dahir. They switched off the lights with his agents during the counting of votes,” he said, as quoted by the local daily.
The politician also claimed that there were no clerks in some of the polling station, which made the voting process very slow. In a sworn affidavit, he told Justice Rose Ougo the electoral body and the returning officer failed to use Forms 35A and 35B in declaring the results.
