Kesses Member of Parliament Dr. Swarrup Mishra was on Wednesday elected the vice chairman of Parliamentary Health Committee.
Murang'a Woman Representative Sabina Chege was elected the chairperson.
Mishra, a professional doctor who owns the Mediheal group of Hospitals expressed his appreciations to fellow legislators who voted for him.
Through a post on his official Facebook page, the Jubilee allied first time MP pledged to make good use of his new role for the benefit of mwananchi.
"I sincerely send special regards and appreciation to my fellow legislators particularly members of Parliamentary Health Committee for the support, prayers, and confidence they have accorded me as their next Committee vice chair," read part of the Facebook post.
"This is not only my personal honour but also a plus to my precious people of Kesses constituency. I will use the capacity to create avenues on the health sector and to serve you all in an equitable manner. Zero tolerance for corruption has been and will remain my slogan. Am humbled," he added.
