Residents of Chepilat in Borabu Nyamira County have asked area MP Ben Momanyi to intervene and ensure there are proper drainage on roads for free flow of rain water during rainy seasons.
This comes after the locals on Monday night spent the night in the cold after rain water flooded the area.
The locals led by Thomas Onderi said the MP should move with speed to open up drainage systems on the roads which have blocked diverting water to their houses.
"We spent last night in the cold because we had no place to sleep after rain water flooded and entered into our houses carrying away sleeping materials.
"This was as a result of blocked drainage systems on our roads and the MP should come to our rescue before lives are lost," he said.
James Monari, another resident, faulted Nyamira governor John Nyagarama for failing to help open up the blocked drainage systems as he promised when he won 2013.
"Nyagarama had given a promise to open the blocked drainage system but it is unfortunate that he has done nothing until today.
"Our able MP Mr. Momanyi is the only hope we have now. Let him cooperate with the county government to ensure the drainage systems on our roads are good for the free flow of water during rainy seasons," said Mr. Monari.
