At least one person has died in the last one month and several displaced in the hostile Borabu-Sotik border over cattle rustling, an incident which has caused a public outcry.

And aspiring MP Patrick Osero on Friday accused the MP of neglecting victims despite their cry for help from the national government.

“We have a sleeping MP who is neglecting his own people. Thousands have been displaced yet he has not even asked for a ministerial statement in the National Assembly,” he said.

“It’s ridiculous that the MP can fail to visit the region and assess the humanitarian situation and it’s over a month. This is ridiculous and the people of Borabu deserve better leadership,” added Nyandoro Kambi, another aspirant.

However, in a quick rejoinder, Momanyi blamed his competitors for allegedly politicising the situation insisting that he had appealed to the Red Cross to visit the region.

“It’s quite primitive to politicise a situation like that. I have been in touch with the Red Cross and they are doing good work. They have resettled the homeless and some have been given food,” he said.
