Kiminini MP Chris Wamalwa has urged the National Super Alliance (NASA) supporters to register as voters in the ongoing mass voter registration exercise to enable the opposition win the August 8 general election.
The MP said the low voter registration turn out being experienced in opposition strongholds is worrying everyone.
Speaking during an interview on NTV, Wamalwa said the opposition has the numbers but the same numbers have to be translated into votes.
“It is true we are worried over the low turnout in our strongholds but we hope the numbers will increase in the last two weeks of the voter listing exercise,” he said during the interview on Wednesday.
The Kiminini MP exuded confidence that the opposition will form the next government.
He stated that with NASA in place, the opposition will oust President Uhuru Kenyatta’s government from power in August.
The lawmaker at the same time urged the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to address issues raised by the opposition on alleged double registration of voters.
“The IEBC has to rise to the occasion and guarantee that the August 8 polls will not be rigged,” he said.
On Wednesday, Cord leader Raila Odinga claimed that IEBC systems were being doctored and manipulated to aid rigging in favor of Jubilee Party.
Raila also alleged that non- Kenyans were allegedly being registered to vote in the August election claims that IEBC has vehemently refuted.
