Mwingi Central Member of Parliament Gideon Mulyungi has affirmed that voting will not take place in his constituency unless the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) meets demands of the opposition.
According to Mulyungi, the October 26 General election will be an exercise in futility if the demands of the National Super Alliance (NASA) Presidential candidate, Raila Amolo Odinga are not taken into account.
The lawmaker said that the election must be conducted in 290 constituencies in order to be valid, and Mwingi Central is among the areas where voting is likely to be boycotted because of the support the opposition enjoys in the region.
“Unless the coalition’s irreducible minimums are met by the IEBC, residents will not participate in the election. According to the constitution, the president is supposed to be elected out of the 290 constituencies in Kenya. If for one reason some constituencies will not go to vote, that election is null and void..so the October 26 election will be null and void,” said Mulyungi according to Tuko.co.ke.
