Speaking on Radio Jambo Saturday, the lawmaker called upon the graft watchdog, Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) to spearhead the process.

The procedure, he said, should also involve the recovery of property acquired using graft proceeds, adding that the convicts must also be subjected to an oath to ensure that they do not engage in such in the future.

"EACC ianze mipangilio ya kurudisha mali zilizoibiwa na wale wenye watakubali warudishe na wasamehewe na waahidi hawatarudia (graft proceeds recovery process should be initiated and responsible persons forgiven, but on a condition that they avoid involvement in such activities going forward)," he said.

Coming amid calls from political players for the Eliud Wabukhala- led commission to be disbanded over alleged incompetency, the lawmaker urged EACC to prove itself by upping its game.

"EACC iwachane na press conference na ianze kufanya kazi...lazima pesa zilizoibwa zipatikane (enough with the many press conferences, its time the commission concentrated on service delivery...we need our funds back)," he added.

The commission has also been in trouble lately, as a result of the many recent scandal revelations, and has been accused of doing less to combat the menace hence the increase.
