Police officers who terrorised residents and also aided in burning down their houses at Ngongongeri farm in Molo will face the law, an MP has said.
Molo MPJacob Macharia said Monday he has engaged the Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinett on allegations that some of the officers torched houses at Ngongongeri.
Machari said it was wrong for an officer tasked with protecting the public to be the one terrorising them.
“There are reports that some officers actually burnt houses and this is a serious matter. I have forwarded the complaint to the Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinett and action will be taken against them,” he said.
He further asked the warring communities at the 26,000 acre farm to give the National Land Commission time to come up with concrete answers.
“My appeal is to the Ogiek, Tugen and Kikuyu communities to remain as one. Don't allow to be divided because its your land and give time to the NLC to come up with answers and live as a united family,” he said.
His visit to the area together with other leaders came at a time when tension is high and many people have fled their homes for fear of losing their lives.
One person was killed on Sunday raising more fear among residents who have sought for shelter at a nearby church.
