In a letter dated March 20, 2017 addressed to the Chairman of Ethics and Anti-corruption Commission, the voter, Geoffrey Muindi claims area MP Kyengo Katatha had been ‘an architect’ of mega corruption in the NG-CDF affairs under his patronage.

According to the petitioner, the Kangundo MP had been using companies allegedly owned by his cronies to secure contracts under CDF funding for his own financial interests. “Honorable Katatha has been the sole supplier of construction materials in almost all the projects. Kindly investigate all payments made to his bank account by way of cash or cheque to his Cooperative bank account in Tala,” the letter already received by EACC reads in part.

The petitioner further claims one of the companies named in the dossier, Domin Company limited is owned by the legislator and his wife, but one of the MP’s cronies had been assigned powers of attorney to operate the company on his behalf. Also named in the petition is the MP’s personal assistant, Sam Muoma who has been adversely accused of allegedly colluding with school heads to wire back funds awarded as bursary fees. “Investigate the names of schools that had been receiving bursary cheques from Kangundo CDF, scrutinize bank accounts of the head teachers as well as MPESA transactions to establish any links with the personal assistant,” the letter further asserts. But in a quick rejoinder, the MP through his personal assistant dismissed the claims as ‘completely untrue’ terming them political.
