Mvita MP Abdulswamad Nassir officially opened a cancer awareness camp organised by the Aga Khan Foundation and the Aga Khan Hospital.

Speaking during the event on Friday, the legislator challenged stakeholders in the health sector to conduct nationwide cancer awareness programmes, to help curb the disease.

"I am welcoming the participation of all cancer awareness stakeholders to help in carrying out countrywide programmes to assist in raising awareness about this endemic," he said.

"Awareness can go a long way in preventing cancer," he added.

The cancer awareness camp seeks to disseminate common knowledge on cancer, symptoms, causes and prevention measures.
