Speaking on Monday during the event at Mombasa's Koblenz hall, Nassir challenged Coast residents to come out in large numbers to share their experiences about insecurity in the region, and recommendations on how to curb the vice.

"I trust and believe that this forum is going to present a good opportunity for the Coastal people to share their stories in matters security in this region," he said.

"I therefore urge the general public to present themselves and their stories and share them openly in this forum," he added.

The public inquiry platform is organised by the Kenya Human Rights Commission (KNHRC) and the Independent Police Oversight Authority (IPOA).
