Kuresoi North MP Moses Cheboi has opposed calls by a section of Opposition leaders to devolve the administration police service to county governments.
The legislator on Saturday said security should remain a function of the national government, adding that county government are already overwhelmed by services devolved to them.
The Kanu MP said the security docket should have a single command to make it effective in the fight of insecurity in different parts of the country.
He said the move would encourage insecurity in the country and also give governors a better chance to misuse the administration police like council askalis.
Addressing residents in Kamara division, the MP also denounced calls to devolve the education sector saying the devolved health sector has greatly challenged the county government.
He said health workers have been downing tools over delayed payment saying it will be a dangerous move if administration police department will be operating under the command of county government.
Cheboi urged governors and Cord leaders to abandon calls for a referendum saying it is impossible for the government to increase county funds by 45 per cent.
He said the government had gradually increased CDF fund without referendum urging governors to fully utilise resources before asking for additional fund.
