The member of parliament for Suna East Junet Mohamed has rubbished statements by North Eastern leaders saying that Raila Odinga has been targeting their people appointed into various offices in the country.
According to Junet, any civil servant must work for all Kenyans regardless of where they come from. Similarly, Junet added that any public officer found to have acted without considering the constitution or the set law, then he or she must be held accountable.
"North Eastern leaders are creating a perception that any appointed public officer is working for his community and not Kenyans. This is wrong because all appointed leaders must serve Kenyans and they should be held accountable for all their actions regardless of their background," said Junet.
The MP further disagreed with the idea that a presidential election is determined by the number of elected leaders affiliated with the presidential candidate's party.
If so, Junet believes then that Raila Odinga should have been declared president considering ODM had a majority vote in the National Assembly in the 2007 general elections.
"This idea by Jubilee that they have more seats from the MCAs all the way to Governors and so they should be winners of the presidency is false. In 2007, Raila's ODM had a vast majority in the National Assembly but he was not declared the president. Jubilee can still lose the presidency with their numbers in elected leaders," added Junet.
He made the remarks on KTN News on Friday.
