Speaking to reporters at Thika town yesterday, the MP said that the number of women and youth who have applied for the funds in the constituency is very low.

She attributed the situation to lack of or little awareness about the fund among youths and women.

The MP said that a lot of funds are lying idle and that women, youths and people with disabilities should apply for them.

“We have decided to carry out sensitisation forums to educate women and youths on how to apply for funds,” she said.

The lawmaker added that applicants will be trained on how to write proposals before being given the funds.

She stated that the constituency has enough funds and that youths should not shy away from applying for them.

The MP at the same time asked young people to apply for government tenders, saying that they have an opportunity to work with government.

“Things have been made easy for the youths and they should take the necessary steps,” she added.

Meanwhile, the MP has lashed at some leaders who she claimed are spreading false information about usage of Constituency Development Funds (CDF).

The MP said that her records are clear and that every amount of money allocated to CDF has been properly utilised.
