Thika MP Patrick Wainaina has pledged to fund schools for the physically challenged this financial year.
The funding is meant to help in renovating the schools' facilities which are mostly run down.
Wainaina, who was speaking on Thursday during a school opening ceremony held at the Thika School for the Blind, promised to make the school comfortable for the students.
He said that Thika Town CDF has been benefiting the school and will continue to do so.
“We are committed to supporting this school because we know disability does not mean inability. We have very bright pupils here and we have to support them fully to realize their goals,” said the MP.
“That is why I will give them funds in this financial year to renovate their facilities, and I am promising more for the same in the coming financial year,” he added.
He said that he has also given others cash in form of bursaries to the students in the school this year.
The MP noted that the school has been in existence for decades, and has transformed lives of many disabled people.
