An elected MP in Nyamira County has promised to break the barriers that impede girl child education in the county.
Nyamira County Women Representative Jerusha Momanyi ,speaking during the official opening of Magura secondary school on Thursday, reaffirmed that nothing is going to stop her from pushing more girls to be enrolled in schools.
“I am the only female elected MP from Nyamira County but I wish to assure residents that I will represent women fully at the national assembly so that we can have more education funds to boost the enrollment of girls from Nyamira County to various schools in the region,” she said.
She said male MPs will not scare her to fight for the rights of women and girls in the county.
“My male MPs should know that we were all elected with the same people and therefore, I am pledging for their support to improve the girl child education so that we can have more women becoming leaders and prominent people in the society in future,” she stated.
