Balambala MP Abdi Shurie has said that he will prioritize education and drought mitigation following his election. According to The Star, the first time lawmaker assured the residents that he will transform their lives during his reign.
The vocal politician pledged to do things differently but also acknowledged the fact that his predecessor did his best. Shurie also said that he will be frequently consulting different stakeholders to ensure that he delivers on his promises.
“In the spirit of public participation as enshrined in the Kenyan Constitution, my office has embarked on consultative roundtable meetings with my constituents that will see us engage directly as they outline some of the challenges they want tackled and development projects prioritised,” Shurie said, as quoted by the local daily.
The lawmaker also said that he will allocate funds towards the education sector. He noted children in his part of the nation have been performing dismally because of poor leadership in different sectors.
“We can no longer continue resting on our laurels as our children perform dismally. We have embarked on the journey of reversing this trend by bringing stakeholders together to address this issue,” Shurie added.
