An 87-year old woman in Mung’etho area of Juja Sub-County has this morning been evicted from her home by a developer who demolished her house.
According to the elderly evictee, Mariam Wangari, the developer who is also a famous person in the area arrived at dawn with armed youths and a bulldozer and brought her house down chasing her away.
Area Chief Alexander Munene arrived at the scene shortly after as did the police who arrived later accompanied by Juja MP Francis Munyua.
According to the area OCS Luke Odiwuor, the police were unable to stop the demolitions as there was a court order from a Thika Court.
“We acted fast after we were notified but on arrival, they had a court order. We just had to watch as the elderly woman suffered the eviction as we couldn’t do anything,” the OCS explained.
Munyua has called on the government officials to help her get justice as she allegedly bought the land in 1998 from a renowned chief then.
The MP has promised to pursue justice for the woman.
