The National Assembly Transport Committee has issued a new directive in bid to curb road carnages. The committee's chairperson David Pkosing said diverting heavy tracks from the main highways will see road accidents reduce. He advised that tracks ferrying goods to Eldoret should use the Eldama Ravine road while those ferrying goods to Kisumu should use Molo diversion in wait for further possible solutions. “That way we reduce the number of trucks using the dangerous spots on our highways,” Pkosing stated as reported by Kenyans.co.kePkosing vowed that his adminstration will not tolerate graft and he will work with all members to ensure the sector delivers best to the country. The MP also defied the calls by his fellow colleagues to disband National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) citing that that will not help curb the rampant accidents. A section of Members of Parliament from both the National Assembly and the Senate on Tuesday called for the disbandment of NTSA after it banned night travel for all public service vehicles.Mwingi central MP Gideon Mulyungi pledged to sponsor a bill in the National Assembly to Disband NTSA following the rampant carnages. “I wonder why Kenyans are still witnessing more road accidents despite the formation of NTSA... I will sponsor a Bill once we resume session to disband NTSA for failing to guarantee safety on our roads,” the Nation quoted the MP.Nakuru-Eldoret Highway along Sachangwan stretch has been marked as the blackspot.
