Njoro MP Joseph Kiuna has said that he will take action against officers handling relief food in the area, after it emerged that the food do no reach the intended persons.
The food is said to benefit a few, while the rest ends up with unscrupulous and greedy businessmen, who sell it to the poor.
“Recently, there was food that was being given to Njoro people, but am told some of it ended with those who were giving it out,” said Kiuna.
Kiuna added that it is illegal and immoral to sell relief food that is meant the needy families, adding that he will get involved to know the truth.
“The government gives that food to the most vulnerable and no one should use it for other things,” added the legislator.
“I know people of Naishi have been the worst affected and I will appeal to the Government to intervene immediately. But this time round, those with insatiable appetite for free things will be out for a big surprise,” added Kiuna.
Kiuna was speaking in Njoro on Wednesday, where he also promised to lobby the government to give free seeds to the area residents.
