Kiambu County Women representative Gathoni Wa Muchomba has threatened to push the county government of Kiambu under the leadership of Governor Ferdinand Waititu to sack 'lazy and quack' doctors serving in the various public health centers in the county.
Muchomba claimed that people's lives are at risk because unqualified doctors may prescribe wrong drugs to patients.
"The recent incident that happened at Thika level 5 hospital clear shows that our doctors are not qualified and fit to serve in our hospitals. How can doctors neglect a patient and give a wrong postmortem report? It is time the county government through the health department to move with speed and ensure unqualified doctors are sent home," she noted.
According to her, women seeking maternity services at public hospitals are at a high risk because the doctors are not ready to work.
"I will not sit and watch women dying due to negligence from unqualified people calling themselves doctors. Governor Waititu should order the health department to conduct an audit on the qualifications of the current doctors to ensure all doctors are fit and meet the required standards to operate," she added.
The MP called on residents to report any negligence case to police officers for the offenders to be arrested and prosecuted for endangering the lives of people.
