The decision by Cord leader Raila Odinga to skip the launching of the Presidential bid by his co-principal Moses Wetangula has elicited a sharp reaction from a Wiper Mp.

Odinga left for Tanzania to meet President John Magufuli even after reports indicated that he was to be among the attendees.

Borabu MP Ben Momanyi has differed sharply with the coalition leader terming his move to skip the function as ‘unjustifiable’ demanding him to issues an official statement.

“It’s sad that as a coalition we organise a meeting and our leader fails to attend," said Momanyi.

"He had confirmed his attendance but I really don’t know why he opted to skip it,” Momanyi said on a telephone interview.

“Skipping the event was unjustifiable because we had planned it properly and he even agreed to attend," said the Mp.

"Our competitors will hijack the uncertainty and politicise it to cause disunity among us. He has to issue a public statement soonest,” added Momanyi.

He also blamed Odinga for allegedly conceding to pressure from Kakamega governor Wycliffe Oparanya who had opposed the meeting citing that Senator Bonny Khalwale would have hijacked it to launch his gubernatorial interests.

“He must have been misled by Oparanya but he should have honored Wetangula. The launch had nothing to do with Oparanya/Kwalwale politics," said Momanyi.

"He should never make such a mistake which threatens integration of Cord,” he said.
