Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga will win by a landslide if people from Nyanza, Western, Coast and North Eastern take advantage of the ongoing voter registration to attain the necessary numbers, North Mugirango MP Charles Geni has stated.
Geni's statement comes barely two days after Raia made a maiden visit to Nyamira County for the first time since the 2013 elections.
During Sunday’s exclusive interview with this reporter, Geni said the regions have enough numbers that can counter the perceived notion of tyranny of numbers from Jubilee strongholds.
“I have done my arithmetic and I can say Raila can win if we mobilise more people from his strongholds to register as voters. He is very popular in many regions unlike Jubilee which is concentrated in the Rift Valley and Central regions,” he said.
“The population of Western, Nyanza, Coast, North Eastern and some parts of lower Eastern and a section of Rift Valley provinces has numbers that can take the father of multiparty democracy to Statehouse. This is our chance and it’s now or never,” he said.
He challenged party officials at the grassroots to mobilising voter registration in the said regions apart from sensitising people to apply for National Identification cards.
“ODM and other Cord affiliates have officials at the grassroots. It’s upon us to use the advantage and mobilise people to register in numbers for the sake of getting required numbers for easy victory,” he said.
