Njoro MP John Kiuna has raised concern over the locking out of more than 3,000 Integrated IDPS from being profiled in the in Juakali estate in the area.
Speaking after he met them on Monday, Kiuna said that he has been following up closely with the line ministry but profiling of the IDPS was yet to start in the estate.
“When president Uhuru Kenyatta toured Njoro recently, he promised to have the remaining IDPs sorted out but no ministry officer had taken up the issue as at now,” he added.
Kiuna said that most of those living in Jua Kali estate occupy plots measuring as little as 40 x 80 fts, adding that the portions are very small considering that most of the IDPs came from areas with high farming potential.
Area MCA Hezy Kung’u called on Governor Kinuthia Mbugua to intervene and have the allotment letters that are still under his government released immediately.
Njoro Jua Kali association chairman David Macharia Mutuanjeru said that even after following up with the government for some time, he is yet to secure profiling of the 1,500 integrated IDPss.
He said that after the 2007 post poll chaos, they were welcomed by other victims of the 1992 and 1998 ethnic clashes who had contributed Sh2,000 each and purchased small portions of land in Juakali estate Njoro.
