Kangundo Member of Parliament Fabian Kyule Muli has expressed concern that only a few students in the constituency attained the minimum university entry grades in this year's Kenya Certificate of Secondary School (KCSE).Addressing journalists in Kangundo on Saturday, the MP said the poor performance was a call for concern, adding that he will work towards improving the standards of education in the sub-county."I have put in place measures to ensure Kangundo uplifts its standards of education. We want schools in this constituency to lead others when it comes to education matters," he said.Muli said he will involve all stakeholders in the region to come up with measures of reforming the education sector."I have organised a meeting with school heads in the region to discuss the strategies of success in next year's national exams," said the lawmaker. The 2017 KCSE results released on Wednesday by Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i showed there was a mass failure across the country.Only 70,073 out of the 611,952 candidates which represent 11.5 percent, qualified to join university.Muli promised to transform vocational training institutions to ensure those who failed to attain university grades are absorbed.
