Mavoko MP Patrick Makau has said some politicians are allegedly plotting to rig the 2017 general election.
The MP claims that some politicians are transferring voters from other counties to Mavoko to register as voters.
Speaking to journalists on Monday at his Mavoko office, the Member of Parliament said that he has evidence to support his claims.
“There is a plot by some politicians to rig the 2017 polls and have already started their tricks” he alleged.
Makau asked the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to investigate the claims of voter transfer to Mavoko.
He said that such acts contravene the electoral regulations and that they must be investigated and action taken against those implicated.
The MP said that he will not sit and allow petty politicians to use his constituency as a ground for rigging.
Makau urged leaders in the region to be vigilant and fight attempts of plans that contravene the electoral process.
At the same time, the MP wants IEBC to carry out an extensive voter awareness exercise in readiness for the 2017 polls.
He said that the move will help Kenyans understand the election process before making their decisions.
The MP observed that many voters make uninformed choices because they lack adequate information on the voting process.
