An MP from Kiambu has recorded a statement with the police over claims that Governor Ferdinand Waititu is threatening her life.
Kiambu Women Representative Gathoni Wa Muchomba on Wednesday at a press conference in Kiambu town said she does not take the threats lightly. She, however, noted that the threats will not stop her from criticizing the county chief's leadership style.Waititu and Wa Muchomba have been at loggerheads following claims by the first time MP that the Governor has been spending a lot of money to run a programme involving rehabilitating alcoholics.Wa Muchomba claimed the county spends over Sh2 million every day to run the programme, claims which Waititu has since denied."I have recorded a police statement at the Kiambu Police Station," Wa Muchomba said during the press briefing."He (Waititu) runs the county like it's his private enterprise and we will continue to correct him," she added. She claimed Waititu does not entertain leaders in the county who are critical of his leadership style, adding that even important decisions that call for collective thinking are single-handedly handled by Waititu in exclusion of other leaders in the county.Waititu last week told the MP to start her own alternative programme if she feels what he is doing is wrong."For long, people have complained about the alcohol menace destroying our youth, now we have taken action to address the problem, some are not satisfied and are coming up with flimsy explanations," the governor said.
