The legislator, on Saturday came out with a strongly refuting that the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) bursaries in the constituency are in breach of rules governing the disbursement of the cash.

“We make sure that the bursary does not go to the undeserving students. The allocations to bright students from poor backgrounds are guided by the Bursary Act,” said Ng’ang’a.

She said that the bursary kitty has benefited students from poor families but not the financially able ones.

“Needy students are the ones entitled to benefit from the bursary kitty. We follow the stipulated regulations to ensure that the money goes to the needy students,” said the legislator.

This comes at a time when there are allegations that many students are dropping out of school in the constituency due to lack of school fees and allocation of the fund to undeserving students.

Ng’ang’a urged parents from poor backgrounds who are in need of bursaries to apply for them from her office and ward representative offices.

The lawmaker is the patron of Thika CDF which allocates bursaries to needy students and is supplemented by the Kiambu County Bursary Fund that was launched in September.
