A Member of Parliament has said the Jubilee will use all State machinery to stop opposition leader Raila Odinga from swearing himself in.
This is after Raila renewed threats that he will take oath as the 'people's president' if President Uhuru Kenyatta does not engage him for dialogue to end what he termed as political uncertainty in the country.
"Nobody will stop me from lifting the bible. It is better to stand up for the truth and die while at it, than to die lying down," the former Prime Minister said on Sunday during the Coast People's Assembly convention in Kilifi County.
But speaking to Kameme FM on Monday, Embakasi Central MP James Gakuya said the government will do all it takes to stop the Opposition leader from taking oath.
"It is not the usual police that will stop him, but the officers who are mandated to protect our territories," Gakuya said in reference to military.
The second-time legislator, however, said the NASA leader was just whipping the emotions of his supporters who he said were losing trust in the coalition's leadership.
"Raila will never dare to take oath during President Uhuru's tenure. He is just trying to lift the spirits of opposition backers after disappointing them on December 12," the MP added.
NASA had planned to swear in Raila on the Jamhuri Day at a secret place in Mombasa but cancelled the event two days to the 'big day'.
The opposition leaders, however, have maintained that they will swear in their leader before the end of the year.
"They (Jubilee) say we cannot swear in Raila, but we are telling them we will bring forward the plan to do so soon," said Siaya Senator James Orengo.
