Kathaini MP Robert Mbui has launched a scathing attack on Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama following his recent fallout with Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka. In an interview with The Star, Mbui claimed that Muthama wanted to control Machakos for his own selfish gains, but his plans failed leading to his outburst.“What the Senator wanted was to have control of Machakos for his own selfish interests. He wanted to have a stooge for governor so that he is able to get access to the county resources. Now that this has failed, he has turned his guns on Kalonzo,” Mbui said, as quoted by the local daily. The MP also claimed that Muthama had cost the party dearly in the last general election due to his hard stand when it comes to matters administration. “A good example was in 2013 when he cost the party several parliamentary seats in the county because of his dictatorial style of leadership,” Mbui added. Meanwhile, Kalonzo has said that he has nothing personal against Muthama, adding that he is free to rejoin the party if he deems it necessary.Kalonzo also rubbished Muthama’s claims that he marked ballot papers to award former Kathaini MP Wavinya Ndeti victory ahead of the August polls.
